A philatelic exhibition titled "World within a stamp, Bridging oceans and mountains" opened at the City Balcony along the Qiantang River in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on January 26. It aims to showcase the 75-year friendship and dialogue between China and Liechtenstein through their precious postage stamps. The exhibition will run until February 6.

In his opening speech, Wang Changrong, Executive Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairman of the Zhejiang International Culture Exchange Association, stated that the exhibition represents a new achievement and highlight in the cultural exchanges between China and Liechtenstein since the establishment of diplomatic relations 75 years ago. Since 2005, China and Liechtenstein have jointly issued stamps themed on the Beijing Olympics and the Shanghai World Expo. Today's exhibition also features a special "China-Liechtenstein Friendship" section, where Chinese stamps depicting Longjing tea, Longquan celadon, and Hangzhou silk looms are displayed alongside Liechtenstein's zodiac-themed stamps and commemorative stamps marking the establishment of diplomatic ties. Together, they tell stories that transcend time, space, and distance, resonating like the tidal harmonies of the Qiantang River and the Rhine.

During the opening ceremony, a cultural exchange commemorative gift exchange was held. The Liechtenstein side presented the Chinese side with a first-day cover of Liechtenstein's 2026 Year of the Horse zodiac commemorative stamp, personally signed by Rainer Vollkommen, a renowned European archaeologist, art historian, and former director of the Liechtenstein National Museum. In return, the Chinese side gifted a full sheet of the Chinese Year of the Horse commemorative stamps.

As one of the world's smallest landlocked countries, Liechtenstein is globally renowned for its exquisite stamp designs, while Chinese stamps carry profound historical and cultural significance. This exhibition uses stamps as a bridge, transcending language and geography to showcase the deep integration between the two nations in art, diplomacy, and people's livelihoods. Each stamp is a microcosm of civilization, inviting visitors to feel the warmth that crosses oceans and mountains through these miniature artworks.

The exhibition will feature jointly issued stamps from China and Liechtenstein, highlighting three key themes: Chinese zodiac culture, commemorating diplomatic ties, and people-to-people bonds. It is open to the public at Hangzhou City Balcony until February 8.
