Jiaxing Inland Port's newly upgraded customs supervision facility began operations on May 18, marking the launch of Zhejiang province's first inland container port area.

On the opening day, a shipment of 10 twenty-foot equivalent units of furniture worth 1.42 million yuan ($209,215) departed from Jiaxing Inland Port and was transported by inland waterway to Zhapu Port in Jiaxing before heading overseas. On the same day, imported industrial materials, including spinning oil and spandex yarn, arrived from Shanghai by water transport to supply local textile and chemical fiber companies in northern Zhejiang.

The upgraded facility allows foreign trade companies in inland areas to complete both export and import procedures locally, reducing transport pressure and improving logistics efficiency.

In late April, the customs supervision facility was expanded to over 270,000 square meters to meet growing trade demand.

Jiaxing Customs also introduced an intelligent management system combining closed-loop supervision and smart checkpoints. With the new system, trucks can pass through the port around the clock using automatic identification and release technology. This upgrade has improved cargo circulation and increased scheduling flexibility, especially for shipments arriving at night.
